My IKEA duck down comforter review
IKEA duck down comforter

IKEA is a famous Sweden company, they do interior design, assemble and sell house equipment. They are the world’s largest retail group now. Their products are famous for having reasonable prices and good quality. In fact, I’ve been using IKEA products for a very long time. And I must say that they were quite good, especially their down comforters which always bring me the most enjoyable sleep. For those who don’t know, I’ve just bought a new pair of HÖNSBÄR down comforter for our family and I think they were very worth the money. I also have another pair of BLEKVIDE and SÖTVEDEL down comforter to use in winter and other season and if you find this interesting, you could check out my review of IKEA down comforter for more information. IKEA has offered a larger category of products for you to choose from, and each of them has 2 to 3 different fillings so you can choose base on your personal needs. And now let’s have a look at my IKEA blanket collection.

There 3 type of comforters that you can choose, they are HÖNSBÄR, BLEKVIDE, and SÖTVEDEL. Each type is specially designed for different types of climate and season.

 HÖNSBÄR

HÖNSBÄR Comforter

The HÖNSBÄR comforter has the smallest amount of down fill, they also have the cheapest price out of those three. This makes them extremely affordable and suitable for areas with warm winter and humid climate. This makes the HÖNSBÄR my favorite comforters since I’m living in a tropical area. I even bought all 3 of them to use on different occasions. If you often feel warm, these thinner and lightweight comforters are the right ones for you. The filling that contains a lot of feathers help transport moisture away and keep you dry through the night. The baffle boxes design keep the fill in place so the warmth will be evenly distributed. You’ll feel no cold spot sleeping with these. The fill is only 29oz with the lightest model, the number is 54oz with the medium one and 80oz with the warmest model. If you often feel cold and need extra warmth, the 80oz filling could give you what you need. Although they are pretty warm, all HÖNSBÄR products should be used in warm areas only. Because in my opinion, they are not suitable for cold areas and even with the 80oz, you could still feel cold. And did I mention they can be machine wash? This is a really nice feature that many down comforters doesn’t have. You can wash them with warm water (140oF). For more information, please check the manufacturer’s website.

SÖTVEDEL

This type of comforter has higher quality than the HÖNSBÄR, they also come in three different warmth. The cooler comforter has only 14oz fill and the total weight is only 69oz which is a lot lighter than its brothers. But even with the different in down fill and weight, the SÖTVEDEL is still very comfortable, cool and dry but still warm enough. The other two are the same as this one but with more fill power and weight. And they’re also better than the HÖNSBÄR at their category. The price for the SÖTVEDEL comforters are slightly more expensive but I think it’s quite reasonable comparing to what they can bring. You only have to pay extra $20 for each type of SÖTVEDEL compare to HÖNSBÄR. And like their older brother, the SÖTVEDEL are also machine washable and dryable.

BLEKVIDE

Now, this type of blanket is a little different than its 2 relatives. It has higher thread count (336/inch2) compare to the two above (252/inch2), that’ll result in better durability and the down won’t easily escape with the tighter thread count. The BLEKVIDE has two different comforters, not like the two above. I personally think these two are the best at their category and there is no need for one in the middle. The cover fabric is made from sateen woven cotton which will guarantee a soft and comfort feeling. The filling will keep you dry and comfort all night since it can absorb the moisture and transport them away thanks to the breathable material. All in all, I think this is a really worth buying comforter If you have an available budget.
