How to speed up learning a language?

As a common misconception, everyone thinks that it would take something special for a person to learn another language. The truth is that learning another language is just like other things, it is a combination of all the small stuff that you do. In today’s article, we will show you some small stuff which will help you accelerate the learning process effectively. Here they are:

1/ Grammar

Stop worrying too much about correct grammar in the initial stage of learning languages. What’s important at this stage is to understand what the other person says or writes and be understood.

Learn grammar

Thinking too much about the grammar will hinder your learning and can even discourage you from learning the language as well. The grammar of some language is really hard and tackle them head on right from the beginning would be “suicide”, in my opinion.

2/ Speak confidently

You will make mistakes when speaking, no doubt. However, thanks to those mistakes, native speakers will know that you are still learning and will speak to you slower and clearer. The important thing is that you have to speak so that people know where you’re wrong in order to correct you. It’s better to speak out and be a fool for once and to stay silence and be a fool forever. That saying is especially true when it comes to learning languages,

3/ Repeat, repeat, repeat

The more you say something, the higher the chance that it will become your reflex. This strategy is extremely useful when there is a grammatical point that you can’t seem to wrap your head around. Just repeat using or hearing it and over time you will know how to use it intuitively. Nevertheless, in order to do this, you need to do the same thing over and over again, which could be very arduous and boring. Hence, the following reason:

4/ Engaging material

Since you will be doing a lot of repetition, it is much more helpful to listen to a song or read a book that you like. That way, you read it time and time again without getting bored and learn the lyric or the storyline by heart as a result. Everybody knows that learning another language can be frustrating so they have created a lot of interesting materials to help you. Just do a quick search on google and you will find free books to read, free movies online on cmovieshd to watch, or free music to listen.

5/ Enjoy the process

Learning under stress is a sure fire way not to learn anything. Therefore, when you are feeling stressed out or your mind is saturated, it is best to just take a break and do something else instead.  When your brain feels like learning again, then go back to learning, it will be much more efficient that way. The important thing is that you have fun while learning the language so that you will remember what you have learned for much longer.

6/ Be patient

A key factor in anything and especially in learning a new language. You are not in a race to see who can learn the most language in the shortest period of time. Hence, just take your time and learn it peacefully. Don’t try to learn everything all at once, you are not going to remember much and maybe not for long as well.

That was what we have to say on this problem. We hope that these tips are of use to you and that you will be successful on your language learning journey with these tips.
